Basic Function

HF Sinclair is seeking a Level Operator who will be responsible for directing and assisting in the production and manufacturing of products, daily quality control activities associated with production, tracking and maintaining raw material inventories, meeting shipment and delivery schedules, receipt handling via truck and rail, following the facility housekeeping objectives, ensuring assets are properly maintained, and HF Sinclair EH & S policies are understood and followed and functions as a technical specialist. 

Job Duties

  • Samples gathering of elevated-temperature materials (primarily asphalt)
  • Conducts visual tank gauging to verify automatic systems.
  • Conducts basic quality control testing of products.
  • Ensures general plant cleaning is performed satisfactorily.
  • Oversees maintenance tasks and light mechanical duties (pumps, valves, oil checks, etc.)
  • Oversees opening and closing of valves for production.
  • Oversees truck and railcar loading and unloading.
  • Ensures all activities in elevated-height work areas via stairs or ladders are performed safely.
  • Prepares paperwork involving intermediate math skills.
  • Identifies any hazards or potential hazards connected to the assigned job and familiarizes self with all products and chemicals being handled by reading the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).
  • Completes all necessary paperwork in maintenance events, including but not limited to, safe work, confined space entries, lock-out tag-out, and hot work forklift and front-end loader inspections.
  • Completes the necessary paperwork required for task responsibilities, such as Bill of Ladings, production batch sheets, operator logbooks, and gauge readings.
  • Maintains EH&S qualifications, accepts responsibility completes at least three EH&S compliance assignments, and assists in EH&S training and SOP revisions.
  • Acts as a resource and lead position for less experienced personnel.
  • Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

Experience

A minimum of zero to ten years of relevant work experience as it pertains to the job duties listed above is required.

Education Level

A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Required Skills

Ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations, and basic computer skills, mechanically inclined, understanding and ability to comply with all Federal, State, Local, and Company regulations, policies, guidelines, and procedures. Completed all required certifications and training for job level showing capability of working as a lead operator with minimal oversight, performing hands-on training with Entry Level and Associate Operators, and filling in for the Operations Supervisor. Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication. Intermediate reading and writing skills.

 

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

Will be responsible for directing or leading in the absence of the Plant manager supervisor.

Physical Requirements

Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, lifting and/or carrying up to 50lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 50lbs, climbing up to 200ft, ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates is essential, valid state driver’s license and proof of insurance required, perceiving color differences, ability to wear personal protective equipment, and strenuous physical activity.
