Basic Function

HF Sinclair Puget Sound Refining LLC, located in Anacortes, WA, is seeking a Health & Safety intern who will assist Health and safety professionals in implementation of Health and Safety compliance activities.

Job Duties

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: (functions considered essential as defined by ADA)

May be required to do some or all of the following:

  • Participate in health and safety field audits and assurance activities.
  • Maintain health and safety equipment.
  • Perform Health and Safety and Emergency Response compliance verification.
  • Conduct routine exposure monitoring for chemical and physical agents present at the refinery.  This could include benzene, noise, silica, and metals.
  • Participate in health and safety projects, emergency preparedness and response projects, and government inspections. Participate in the investigation of health and safety incidents and prepare reports with recommendations for improvement.
  • Assists with other duties assigned by Health & Safety / ER Manager.

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their manager, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion

None required.

Education Level

Some completed courses needed for a Bachelor's Degree in a Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related Field are required. 

 

Required Skills

Basic knowledge of health and safety concepts, industrial hygiene monitoring methods, OSHA regulations and ability to apply this knowledge analytically.  Basic ability to stay abreast of new technology developments and processes is essential.  Basic knowledge of Microsoft products.

Physical Requirements

Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs, climbing up to 200 ft, perceive color differences,  required to wear personal protective equipment as needed and a respirator in emergency situations (beards are not permitted), ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates is essential (inability to maintain standard insurance rates is grounds for dismissal), valid state driver's license and proof of insurance required. Depending on location must satisfactorily complete a comprehensive medical physical examination.  Job conditions may require twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping, and working in confined spaces as permitted.

Salary Range:  The salary range includes the minimum, midpoint, and maximum base salary values.  A candidate's offer can vary depending on differentiating factors, including but not limited to education, training, or experience.

This position has a hourly minimum of $24.50 and maximum of $36.00.
