Basic Function

HF Sinclair in Anacortes, WA is seeking a Metal Trades craftsperson.  This position’s primary duties include troubleshooting, testing, repairing existing installations and maintaining all types of refinery fixed equipment.

Job Duties

  • Performs proactive and reactive maintenance activities relative to increasing the reliability of fixed mechanical equipment and systems in all areas of the refinery.
  • Understanding work priorities in relation to plant reliability on a daily/weekly basis.
  • Communicating with Team Leader and planner on a daily/weekly basis on the status of assigned work and any issues encountered.
  • Taking ownership of the fixed equipment systems in their assigned areas.
  • Working with screwed and flanged piping systems including removal, installation, repair, fabrication, cleaning and threading.
  • Working with non-metallic piping systems.
  • Installation and removal of blinds for equipment maintenance activities.
  • Removal/installation of various types of process equipment including valves, pumps, gauge/sight glasses, relief valves, burner assemblies, pressure regulators, pressure gauges and other instrument support systems.
  • Knowledge of basic rigging skills and hand signals.
  • Working with heat exchangers including removal, cleaning, disassembly, testing, repair, hydro testing and reassembly/installation.
  • Installing and repairing piping and tubing auxiliaries on turbines, compressors, pumps and fans.
  • Proficient in PMI requirements and knowledge of Welded Piping QC manual.
  • Familiar with blueprints, isometric drawings and PSR standards.
  • Perform troubleshooting and preventive maintenance activities on fixed equipment.
  • Able to operate equipment including - Forklifts, Aerial Lifts, Hyster, etc.
  • Must demonstrate basic level of skills in processes that may be outside of primary craft core competancies including: 
  • Performing scheduled and reactive corrective maintenance on production equipment.
  • Use CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) to document job details.

Experience

5 years of Maintenance Metal Trades Craft. 
 
PREFERRED: Journeyman Metal Trades craft ina an industrial/manufacturing environment. 
 

Education Level

High school diploma or GED is required. 

Required Skills

Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays and overtime. Willingness to work at heights, walk on high elevation grating and to walk up and down stairs. Willingness to work in confined spaces. Must be able to speak, read and write English. Reside within 60 miles of the site, or relocate without assistance to within 60 miles. Willingness to work outside in inclement weather. Must be willing to use safe lifting techniques to lift 50 pounds from the ground to waist level. Must be comfortable using computers in a work environment. Willingness to support HF Sinclair’s policy of a drug-free work environment.

Work Conditions

Field based. Petroleum refinery, out-of-doors environment, and driver-based environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, exposure to the risk of electrical shock, and working in confined spaces. Subject to all temperatures.

Salary Range:  The salary range includes the minimum, midpoint, and maximum base salary values.  A candidate's offer can vary depending on differentiating factors, including but not limited to education, training, or experience.

This position has a salary of $49.05 per hour.
