Basic Function

HF Sinclair Midstream located in Artesia, NM is seeking a Network Administrator. This position manage day-to-day OT network operations, including the configuration and troubleshooting of OT-specific network devices and systems. Support industrial processes by ensuring that network performance and security meet operational requirements.

Job Duties

(functions considered essential as defined by ADA)

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot network equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Monitor network performance, identifying and resolving routine network issues.
  • Apply patches, updates, and configuration changes to network devices, ensuring they comply with industry standards.
  • Assist in maintaining network security by implementing basic security measures (e.g., firewall rules, access controls).
  • Document network configurations, changes, and procedures for internal reference.
  • Provide intermediate support to end-users, resolving more complex networking issues.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on network infrastructure projects and larger network deployments.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance tasks to ensure reliable network performance and uptime.

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

 

Experience

A minimum of three years of job related experience is required.

Education Level

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (or related discipline) or equivalent work experience. 

Required Skills

Intermediate knowledge of applications systems and ability to apply this knowledge. Intermediate working knowledge of information systems concepts/design/development, systems development life cycle, recovery techniques, performance monitoring and tuning; decision-making, analytical, and problem solving skills. Conceptual and data analysis skills, advanced reading skills, the ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations, intermediate reading and writing skills, and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication. Ability to lead to lead projects as required.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Intermediate Networking Skills: Experience configuring and troubleshooting network devices like routers, switches, and firewalls, particularly in industrial environments.
  • OT Systems Knowledge: Understanding of how OT networks interact with systems like SCADA, PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), and RTUs (Remote Terminal Units).
  • Security Management: Familiarity with basic cybersecurity measures for OT environments (firewall rules, access controls, VPNs, etc.).
  • Monitoring Tools: Proficiency in using network monitoring and diagnostic tools to identify and resolve network issues.
  • Patch and Update Management: Experience applying security patches and firmware updates to OT devices while ensuring minimal operational disruption.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to independently troubleshoot mid-level OT network issues.

Certifications: Microsoft, Juniper, VMware, Cisco certifications (MCDST, MCSA, MCSE, MCP); Network, Virtual infastructure and software certifications (A+, N+, NET+) are preferred. ITIL

Work Conditions

Office based with up to 30% travel by land and air required. Petroleum refinery and driver based environment including but not limited to chemical, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, working in confined spaces, and exposure to risk of electrical shock. Subject to all weather and varying road conditions. Occasionally required to work long hours which may include nights, weekends, holidays for regularly scheduled maintenance and emergency work and support as well as on-call availability.

 

Physical Requirements

Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs, pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs, climbing up to 15 ft, working in confined spaces, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, perceiving color differences, ability to wear personal protective equipment (beards not permitted).
