Basic Function

HF Sinclair is seeking for a Shift Supervisor to expected to deliver the business plan while leading the operation of the plant in a safe.

Job Duties

  • Key leader in the implantation of Navajo’s Vision

  • Drive discipline in following policy and procedure AND systems approach (OEMS and conduct of operations programs implementation and support development.)
  • Purposefully develop our people by increasing team capability through focused training and growth efforts
  • Assure alignment with HF Sinclair risk tolerance (profile) and grow the team to move Navajo culture to aligned risk tolerance (profile) level
  • Drive process safety culture – everyone knows their role in process safety & the tools and processes to sustainably drive risk management
  • Set the bar on risk tolerance – define what is no longer acceptable & drive programs to understand
  • Drive a culture of understanding and adherence to our environmental compliance limits
  • Drive Goal Zero/Perfect Day culture & vision forward to a continuously improving culture
  • Lead the daily operation of the plant
  • Ensure Routine Operator Duties are completed
  • Ensure Operating Procedures are utilized
  • Ensure the Relief Operator is productive and his/her capability is being utilized
  • Partner with Maintenance & Reliability to execute activities
  • Lead unit startups and shut downs
  • Lead Safety & Environmental performance
  • Lead routine What If drills
  • Coach and manage performance
  • Deliver disciplinary action
  • Develop work schedules and crew lists
  • Review and approve time sheets
  • Manage overtime & minimize chemical waste

Special assignments, projects or tasks as assigned to the employee by their superior from time to time in their sole and complete discretion of management.

Experience

A minimum of seven years of on-the-job experience and at least five years of industry experience are required.

Education Level

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, or the equivalent amount of education and work experience, is required.

Required Skills

Depending on location, may require some or all of the following: special training in Industrial Firefighting courses, HAZMAT, Chemical Treatment and certifications in Industrial Strategy & Tactics, working knowledge of OSHA safety rules and regulations. Computer skills including data acquisition and systems application. Ability to effectively communicate with others, both verbal and written communication skills; knowledge of refinery operations; interpersonal, conflict resolution, supervisory and leadership skills. Flexible, decisive and innovative. Ability to act decisively under pressure and assume risks. Intermediate reading and writing skills, with the ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

Management Skills for Supervisors and special training and/or certifications in computer software is preferred.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

Responsible for the supervision of up to 40 employees.

Work Conditions

Office and field based with up to 25% travel by land and air required. Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, out-of-doors environment, driver based environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, working in confined spaces, exposure to the risk of electrical shock, loud noises, and vibrations. Subject to all temperatures, weather and varying road conditions. In some locations, must be available for weekend and after hour call-outs

Physical Requirements

Job conditions require lifting and/or carrying up to 50lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 50lbs, standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movement, reaching or grasping, climbing up to 100 ft, ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates, and ability to wear personal protective equipment (beards not permitted), and strenuous physical activity.
