Basic Function

HF Sinclair Midstream located in Artesia, NM is seeking a SCADA Analyst.  The SCADA Analyst resolves mid to high-level control room issues and performs a variety of complex technical and professional assignments and projects for the SCADA Department under general supervision.

Job Duties

  • Works with defined SCADA and business processes, procedures and standards to deliever SCADA solutions
  • Provides system assessments, design and development for SCADA application components
  • Performs database administration functions; using multiple programming languages queries data, modifies, or updates data tables; generates reports and data runs; develops scripts to automate repetitive tasks, for data warehousing transaction processes, and backup strategies; ensures database capacity; performs database upgrades and software version management; creates, implements, and maintains database directories; creates and modifies file systems.
  • Develops system applications utilizing business knowledge and tests developed programs to ensure proper functionalality and implementation
  • Performs system administration functions for server, storage, network, and workstation platforms; configures and installs software and hardware; monitors and evaluates disk space utilization and system performance; creates and maintains local, remote, and VPN user accounts, roles and access privileges.
  • Writes clear, concise, and accurate documentation and provides training (i.e., work procedures, how to guides)
  • Supports business processes using SCADA applications including 24/7 on call support as needs arise
  • Designs, develops, and administers SCADA system database, network and communication programming standards
  • Designs, creates, and modifies graphical user interface displays, utility programs, menus, and toolbars; codes displays using multiple programming languages to integrate and automate SCADA data in accordance with user requirements, new and changing technologies, industry standards, and regulatory compliance
  • May inspects, oversees equipment installation work performed by contractors

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their manager, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion

Experience

A minimum of three years of job-related experience is required.

Education Level

A minimum of a Bachelors’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Telecommunication or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Required Skills

Intermediate understanding of company operating systems platforms; working knowledge of operational systems concepts/design/development, systems development life cycle, recovery techniques, performance monitoring and tuning; advanced knowledge of web programming languages; ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication, intermediate reading and writing skills, ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations, decision-making, analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

Experience with VSAT communication, AVEVA 2021 Enterprise, Windows Server, VMware , and Juniper network equipment.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

May manage contractors and supplier representatives and direct or lead the work of others from time-to-time.

Work Conditions

Office and field based and with up to 20% travel by land and air required. Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, out-of-doors, and driver based environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, working in confined spaces, and exposure to the risk of electrical shock. Subject to all temperatures, weather, and varying road conditions. Required to participate in the 7 day x 24 hour on call rotation support assignment for regularly scheduled maintenance and emergency work.

Physical Requirements

Job conditions require talking or hearing, making visual inspections, ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates, valid state driver’s license and proof of insurance, perceiving color differences, and wearing personal protective equipment (beards not permitted). Job conditions may require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, lifting and/or carrying up to 50lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 50lbs, climbing up to 15ft, and strenuous physical activity.
