Basic Function

HF Sinclair Midstream is seeking a SCADA Specialist. The SCADA Specialist is open as far as location, preferably in Artesia, NM, open to Dallas, TX, Salt Lake City, UT or Tulsa, OK. This position leads SCADA initiatives, focusing on standardization, system improvements, and collaboration with other SCADA teams to ensure seamless operations and project success.

Job Duties

  • Leads PLC programming initiatives, including the development of reusable templates and libraries.
  • Standardizes SCADA system configurations and programming practices.
  • Manages improvement projects to enhance system efficiency and reliability.
  • Partners with cross-functional teams to implement and optimize SCADA solutions.
  • Mentors junior team members and provide technical expertise.
  • Ensures compliance with industry standards and cybersecurity protocols.
  • Develops and implements advanced monitoring and diagnostic tools for SCADA systems.
  • Leads troubleshooting efforts for complex SCADA and PLC issues.
  • May mentor less experiences staff members.

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

Experience

A minimum of five years of job related experience is required.

Education Level

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience is required.

Required Skills

Intermediate knowledge of applications systems and ability to apply this knowledge.  Intermediate working knowledge of information systems concepts/design/development, systems development life cycle, recovery techniques, performance monitoring and tuning; decision-making, analytical, and problem solving skills. Conceptual and data analysis skills, advanced reading skills, the ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations, intermediate reading and writing skills, and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication. Ability to lead to lead projects as required.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Advanced proficiency in SCADA system design and PLC programming.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial communication networks and protocols.
  • Experience with SCADA project management and collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead improvement initiatives and implement best practices.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Work Conditions

Office based with up to 30% travel by land and air required. Petroleum refinery and driver based environment including but not limited to chemical, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, working in confined spaces, and exposure to risk of electrical shock. Subject to all weather and varying road conditions. Occasionally required to work long hours which may include nights, weekends, holidays for regularly scheduled maintenance and emergency work and support as well as on-call availability.

Physical Requirements

Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, lifting and/or carrying up to 50 lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 50 lbs, climbing up to 15 ft, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, perceiving color differences, ability to wear personal protective equipment and a respirator during emergency situations as needed (beards not permitted)
