Title:  Fleet Mechanic

Basic Function

Responsible for the repair and maintenance of the company's commercial motor vehicles and equipment. 

Job Duties

  • Services commercial motor vehicles and trailers as scheduled
  • Performs basic repairs (tires, wheel seals, brakes, and suspension)
  • Performs daily safety inspections of trailers
  • Completes repair paperwork and documentation as required by company procedure
  • Facilitates repairs for drivers when off company property
  • Orders and transports parts as needed
  • Performs DOT annual inspection of commercial motor vehicles and trailers

Experience

  • 0-6 months’ mechanical experience preferred
  • Experience moving commercial motor vehicles, trailers, and straight trucks preferred

Education Level

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
  • Diesel Mechanic Certification or Associate’s Degree preferred

This position works in a shop setting with exposure to fumes, petroleum products, fuels, anti-freeze/coolant, Freon; heat and open flame; moving mechanical parts; and vibration on a regular basis. There is also some outdoor exposure during the workday.
