Title: Director Maintenance Excellence

Basic Function
HF Sinclair is seeking a Director of Maintenance Exellence to who oversees and directs all refinery locations in the Maintenance Excellence department. Responsible for scheduling, planning, execution, reliability-based maintenance activities, and effective work practices and procedures. Leads benchmarking of site maintenance performance vs. industry for competitiveness and effectiveness; identifies opportunities for improvement; supports improvement efforts.
Job Duties
- Oversees the Maintenance network consisting of maintenance managers from the entire fleet.
- Conducts network meetings that promote information sharing and networking across sites and adoption of best practices.
- Develops a vision for maintenance network and function that supports overall refining vision of safe, clean, reliable, and competitive operation. Lead maintenance network to aspiring to that vision and share learnings.
- Acts as a resource of industry best practices and developments in the maintenance fields.
- Responsible for identifying and documenting the best practices for future implementation in SAP EAM Maintenance workflow.
- Stewards super user network for SAP EAM to innovate and improve the system to support the maintenance vision.
- Directs innovation and technology development that supports improvements towards maintenance excellence.
- Takes learnings from Lean initiatives at various sites and develops the HF Sinclair Lean Maintenance model. Support continuous improvement at sites that have been implemented, and drive the implementation for those who have not yet started.
- Leads need analysis for various corporate maintenance practices that do not currently exist. Steward the development and implementation of work practices across the fleet.
- Develops and continuously improve metrics that show the health of each site’s maintenance and the development of tools to make metrics visible and easily obtainable.
- Oversees career development opportunities for maintenance professionals throughout the organization.
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their manager, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion
Experience
A minimum of 15 years of experience related to refinery routine maintenance and reliability are required.
Education Level
A minimum of a Master’s degree in Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience, is required.
Required Skills
Ability to lead and direct senior-level managers in the improvement of reliability and maintenance. Strong interpersonal and decision-making skills and ability to build technical and operational capability. Good spreadsheet, database, and word processing applications knowledge; strong written and verbal communication, negotiating, time-management and organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with others and influence multiple operations. Advanced reading and writing skills and the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
Prefered Skills:
A significant amount of experience in the energy industry and special training in project management is preferred.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility
Responsible for the direct supervision approximately of one to two professional employees.
Work Conditions
Office-based with warehouse and refinery environment exposure with travel up to 50% of the time by land or air. Up to 60% of the time will be required to work in a petroleum refinery environment. Subject to all weather and varying road conditions
