Basic Function

HF Sinclair in Dallas, TX is seeking an Intern Auditor, Internal Audit Technology to support the Technology Audit team by assisting with SOX testing, IT/OT reviews, and technology implementation audits. The role focuses on learning audit processes, developing technical and professional skills, and gaining exposure to analytics, automation, and GenAI in a real-world audit environment.

Job Duties

  • Assist with SOX testing, evidence gathering, and documentation under supervision.
  • Participate in walkthroughs, team meetings, and selected stakeholder discussions to observe audit planning and execution.
  • Observe technology implementation reviews to understand risks, controls, and project dynamics.
  • Assist with audit administrative activities such as updating tracking logs, preparing meeting notes, and organizing files.

  • Help maintain audit resources, templates, and training materials.
  • Learn foundational analytics, automation, and GenAI concepts by shadowing team members using these tools.

Experience

No prior audit experience required. Coursework or projects in IT, cybersecurity, audit, or data analytics valued.

Education Level

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Accounting/Finance, or related field.
  • Junior (entering senior year) or graduate students preferred.

Required Skills

  • Curiosity, motivation, and openness to learning new technical and audit concepts.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational habits.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to collaborate and ask clarifying questions.
  • Interest in data analytics, automation, cybersecurity, or GenAI tools.

Work Conditions

Office based with up to 10% travel by land and air required. Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment and out-of-doors environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, and tanks, and rotating equipment. Subject to all temperatures, weather and varying road conditions.

Physical Requirements

Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, lifting and/or carrying up to 20lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 20lbs, climbing up to 40 ft, perceiving color differences, and wearing personal protective equipment (beards not permitted).
