Title:  Manager, Distribution and Contracts

Basic Function

HF Sinclair is seeking a Manager of Distribution and Contracts to be based at our Dallas office. Manages multiple aspects and activities of the marketing department, including overseeing personnel activities to ensure all logistics and contract administration activities are executed on-time and comply with customer product specifications.

Job Duties

  • Manages and oversees all product movements, working with other departments to facilitate timely product movements and invoicing of those products
  • Manages all employees and activities pertinent to product supply and distribution to achieve maximum productivity and effectiveness
  • Manages and administers corporate policy for contract relationships with customers and vendors; planning, controlling and managing the activities associated with the negotiation, preparation, monitoring and termination of contracts and subcontracts to ensure the fulfillment of all contract obligations
  • Manages and oversees department to improve on-time customer shipments
  • Maintains essential relations and good working relationships with relevant government agencies which oversee and audit company compliance with contractual rules and regulations
  • Works with other departments to maintain proper inventories of companywide products, ensures all inventory levels are achieved and communicates all differences
  • Monitors daily product movements and inventory positions and communicates with appropriate departments
  • Manages and maintains good working relationships with customers, exchange partners, suppliers and third party product companies and/or terminal personnel and works with blenders, traders and schedulers to maximize product movements and values for the Corporation
  • Maintains positive and productive working relationship within department and with other departments, acting as primary liaison between refinery, sales force, optimization and customer service
  • Negotiates with Customs Brokers during foreign exports
  • Works with third party product companies on tariffs, expansion or other policy matters affecting company
  • Manages and leads contract preparations and deal capture, as well as exhibits as needed, ensuring all revisions are provided in a timely manner
  • Assists manager in analyzing potential projects.
  • Identifies areas for improvement that would benefit product movements or sales of the Company’s products.

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their superior, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.


A minimum of 10 years experience in the petroleum industry with at least five years of relevant functional experience in Commercial is required.

An understanding of product marketing as well as an understanding of refining procedures is also preferred.

Education Level

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in business, business administration, logistics concentration or in a technical discipline is required. 

Required Skills

Ability to perform a variety of high-level assignments for the marketing department. Working knowledge of Microsoft products, and ability to multi-task, is required. Ability to handle situations involving conflicts arising out of products being off specification, short/long term refinery/logistical problems causing product outages and/or customer complaints, and human error causing product outages, etc. Strong organizational skills; advanced leadership, effective delegation, negotiation and forward thinking skills; ability to communicate effectively with others, both written and verbal communication, and across multiple department lines and manage third party locations. Advanced reading and writing skills, with the ability to perform complex mathematical calculations.


MRP, DRP, & ERP (Manufacturing, Distribution & Enterprise Resource Planning) are preferred.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

Responsible for the direct supervision of staff and managerial employees.

Work Conditions

Office based with travel up to 30% by land and air required. Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, and rotating equipment. Subject to varying road and weather conditions.

Physical Requirements

Job conditions require sitting, talking or hearing, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, perceiving color differences, and the ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates is essential, and valid State driver’s license and proof of insurance. Job conditions may require standing, walking, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, lifting and/or carrying up to 10lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 10lbs, and climbing up to 3ft.
