Basic Function

The Manager, IT EH&S Business Partner provides leadership, partnership, direction and guidance to the teams across multiple lines of business to ensure that business goals are met through the effective provision of technology solutions and services. The Manager, IT EH&S Business Partner will engage with the key stakeholders in the business organization to develop and agree medium to long-term strategic plans and capability roadmaps, ensuring alignment with HFSinclair objectives and maximizing value capture for the function. He/she acts as the trusted lead business advisor, providing oversight and guidance to enable the successful delivery of specific projects, and influences the delivery of IT services. This role actively markets and promotes IT services and ensures that the demand for these are managed and prioritized effectively. The key to success is a broad knowledge of relevant business division technologies and industry trends, compelling communication to business leadership regarding how this enables future business capability, and the ability/know-how to leverage the IT organization to drive successful delivery, considerate of local needs and global direction.

 

This role will manage the collaboration with senior leaders related to EH&S.  The Business Partner will be expected to manage teams, both direct and indirect, to ensure the delivery and sustainability of our IT portfolio.

Job Duties

        • Serves as the primary IT business partner for Environmental, Health, & Safety, building strong relationships with EH&S leaders, site stakeholders, operations, and corporate functions to understand business priorities and technology needs.
        • Partners with EH&S stakeholders to define business outcomes, document requirements, prioritize demand, and develop technology roadmaps that support environmental compliance, health and safety performance, risk reduction, and operational excellence.
        • Leads assigned EH&S IT initiatives from intake through delivery, ensuring scope, business case, resource needs, risks, dependencies, and success measures are clearly understood and aligned with business objectives.
        • Provides business-facing ownership for EH&S applications, including Enablon, Cority, and related systems, ensuring solutions are configured, supported, enhanced, and governed to meet current and emerging business requirements.
        • Facilitates cross-functional collaboration between EH&S, IT, cybersecurity, data, infrastructure, vendors, and managed service providers to deliver reliable, secure, scalable, and supportable solutions.
        • Translates business requirements into functional designs, reporting needs, integration requirements, data flows, and support models for EHS applications and related platforms.
        • Supports governance of sensitive EH&S data, including regulatory, environmental, safety, personal, and other confidential information, ensuring appropriate controls, compliance considerations, and data quality practices are incorporated into solutions.
        • Identifies opportunities to simplify, standardize, and improve EH&S business processes through technology, automation, analytics, and improved user experience.
        • Develops and maintains executive-ready communications, project updates, decision materials, process documentation, and value statements to support stakeholder alignment and investment decisions.
        • Leads business users, project team members, and support resources to ensure adoption, clear accountability, effective knowledge transfer, and sustainable long-term support.
        • Ensures EH&S technology solutions comply with corporate IT governance, cybersecurity requirements, architecture standards, change management practices, and support procedures.

 

 

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

 

Experience

A minimum of 10 years of experience in information technology, business relationship management, business analysis, application delivery, or equivalent experience. Five of those 10 years should include experience supporting EH&S, operations, refining, pipeline, manufacturing, or other regulated industrial environments.

 

Preferred Experience:

Experience supporting EH&S business processes, regulatory compliance programs, refinery or pipeline operations, enterprise EH&S platforms, business transformation initiatives, and vendor or consulting partner delivery.

Education Level

A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Accounting, Engineering, or related field is required.

 

Preferred Education:

A Master’s of Information Systems or related discipline degree. 

Required Skills

General understanding of corporate IT governance practices and handling of regulatory compliance which may include: State, Federal and various taxing authorities and development, and data migration/integration skills. Ability to lead business process improvement initiatives, and implementations in some or all of the following areas: Environmental, Health, & Safety. Advanced knowledge of implementing and supporting business applications, which may include: Enablon, Cority, and other EH&S supporting applications.  Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication. Advanced reading and writing skills, with the ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations.

 

Preferred Skills:

Environmental, Health, & Safety experience in the Oil & Gas refinery and pipeline industry.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

Responsible for managing approximately three to six exempt-level professional employees as well as contract staff for enterprise programs.

 

Work Conditions

Office based with up to 10% travel by land and air required. Driver based environment. Subject to all weather and varying road conditions.
