Title: Point of View Development Associate

Basic Function
HF Sinclair is seeking a Point of View Development Associate in Dallas, TX. This person will provide data-driven analysis to develop competitive stances in Refining, Renewables, Midstream, and Branded Fuels markets to support business opportunities across the Commercial Organization.
Job Duties
- Develops Point of Views (POVs) from market fundamentals ranging from regional to global across various commodities and industries to help support the company’s short-, medium- and long-term strategies
- Perform scenario analysis around the supply/demand and cost variables to help estimate and predict incremental and average barrel refining margins for various markets
- With the analytical team, build and maintain Refining Basin models to match historical supply/demand/trade flows
- Develop supply stacks for markets to understand competitive position of HF Sinclair assets as well as peers
- Assists in preparation of market studies based on supply/demand analysis to help determine pricing expectations/price setting mechanisms (PSMs) for use in the company’s short-, medium- and long-term pricing forecasts
- Build and oversee maintenance of crude basin and product market supply/demand models
- Assists in preparation of Executive Leadership materials for Board of Directors and Investor Relations interactions
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of related on-the-job experience in refining or renewables industry required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Experience in petroleum market or refining analytics, economics and planning, market fundamentals and knowledge of refinery operations are highly preferred.
Education Level
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in economics, engineering, accounting or finance is required.
Required Skills
Basic understanding of energy or commodity markets. Familiarity with statistical analysis methods, forecasting techniques, and predictive modeling. Excellent proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. Detail oriented with strong working knowledge of Microsoft products, Excel and PowerPoint in particular. Ability to perform intermediate level mathematical calculations. Self-starter with the ability to think critically and communicate effectively.
