Title: Reporting & Analytics Intern
Dallas, TX, US, 75219
Basic Function
Are you curious about how data actually powers decisions at a Fortune 500 energy company? HF Sinclair is a Dallas-based energy company with operations across the United States, producing fuels, lubricants, renewable energy products, and other essentials people use every day. Our Reporting, Analytics & Data Automation team sits at the center of that business, turning complex operational, commercial, and corporate data into insights that leaders act on across refining, midstream, renewables, EHS, and corporate functions.
Job Duties
- Design and build interactive Power BI dashboards and reports that turn raw data into clear business insight, helping leaders spot trends, track KPIs, and make faster decisions. You will learn visualization best practices and see your work adopted by real teams.
- Apply analytical and statistical thinking to large enterprise datasets to find patterns, test assumptions, and surface opportunities. You will practice trend analysis, KPI measurement, and the kind of structured problem solving that separates a chart from an answer.
- Use SQL, Excel, Power Query, and DAX to clean, join, and organize data from multiple business systems into trusted reporting solutions. You will get exposure to semantic modeling concepts such as star schemas and to enterprise sources including SAP, SQL databases, and operational platforms.
- Sit down with stakeholders across the organization to understand their questions, define what success looks like, and translate findings into recommendations they can act on. You will present your work to both technical and non-technical audiences and help teams adopt what you build.
- Support our push into data automation, self-service analytics, and AI-assisted reporting. Manual processes are everywhere in a large enterprise, and one of the most satisfying things an intern can do here is replace a recurring spreadsheet with something that runs itself.
