Basic Function

Petro-Canada Lubricants Inc. (PCLI), an HF Sincalir company is seeking an Opertions Coordinator. The Operations Coordinator is the point of contact for day-to-day operations and maintenance activities for the team in the White Oils Unit. The Coordinator will work with the area maintenance coordinator, operators and engineers to ensure operational and maintenance concerns are handled in a risk based prioritized manner.

Job Duties

  • Guide improved Safety performance of operations by planned Leadership Audits and manage follow-ups
  • Review/audit the performance of safety checklists and permit compliance
  • Review all incident reports (Enablon) - accept/modify/refuse recommendations, prioritize, establish target dates, discuss with area shift supervisors and ensure timely, effective closure
  • Review and address Area Safety issues or Peers Protecting Peers (PPP) opportunities
  • Provide guidance and expertise for improvements to meet or exceed performance targets, to eliminate Production threats and any impact Maintenance plans have on Production with the Cross Functional Team (CFT)
  • Regular communications with Area team, Shift Supervisors and Operators to establish the most appropriate Threat response for Maintenance
  • Attend and provide input to 8:00 production meeting. Provide feedback to shift supervisor and Area Team regarding expectations of the day
  • Maintain a complete flow of information through face to face communications, Daily Production Orders, supplemental orders (standing orders), area team meeting minutes, e-mail, etc.
  • Provide support, expertise and tools to Shift Supervisors and Operators for attainment of Operational performance targets and developmental targets by the area team, (ex. yields, through put, safety, training)
  • Establish maintenance priorities in collaboration with CFT and Area Maintenance Coordinator, to ensure processing targets are met, and expedite emergency repairs
  • Review, validate and accept/refuse all SAP notifications and ensure work description is adequate. Provide feedback to Shift supervisor and operators
  • Review, validate and accept/refuse Engineering Packages
  • Review and reduce / maintain SAP backlog in consultation with CFT
  • Manage planned maintenance activities (on the run outages, safety valves, exchanger cleaning, etc.) in consultation with maintenance and production control
  • Co-ordination of planned major shutdowns and unplanned unit shutdowns/slowdowns for mechanical or operational reasons
  • Organize & co-ordinate procedures, blank lists, equivalency procedures, pre-entry meeting requirements, etc. for maintenance / operational activities
  • Interact with the CFT to Initiate projects for unit improvements, and liaise with area engineers and/or Central Engineering to optimize engineering solutions
  • Participate in What-if, HAZOP, PHA, etc.
  • Commission new facilities and ensure start up and shutdown procedures are in place prior to commissioning
  • Draft/review/update and approve training and operational procedures
  • Responsible for review and validation of procedures, blank lists TIPS, etc.
  • Participate in external audits

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion

Experience

  • 10 years of related work experience
  • High level of technical industrial experience (refinery preferred)
  • Experience with unit mechanical equipment (reliability focus)
  • Experience with maintenance co-ordination (planning, shut down, prioritization, costs control, etc.)
  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills through past roles is a strong asset

Education Level

  • Post-secondary education or a combination of education and experience may be considered

Required Skills

  • Very good knowledge of processing technology (technical expertise)
  • Good communication skills
  • Good understanding of refinery’s planning, strategies and integration issues
  • Good understanding of area performance indices
  • Able to assess proper business related priorities
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Involvement in “Root cause analysis” team
  • Strong Computer Skills and Experience with Petro-Canada systems (SAP, Enablon, LIMS, PHD, Microsoft applications, etc….)
  • Good understanding of area budget
  • Working knowledge of CBA and related guidelines & practices
  • Self-motivated
  • Well organized and conscientious (responsible for management of various systems and processes)
  • Good time management skills

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

  • Demonstrate non-authoritative leadership skills to influence others and accelerate change
  • Lead and manage turnaround, maintenance and other special assignment personnel
