Basic Function

Petro-Canada Lubricants Inc. (PCLI), an HF Sinclair business, located in Mississauga, ON is seeking a Coordinator, Production Control. Reporting to the Manager Business Optimization, the Coordinator, Production Control will manage the quality control, inventory management and logistics of incoming feedstocks, intermediates and finished products to ensure products meet customer requirements and are delivered on time in full (OTIF).  This applies to a complex lubricant plant configured with multiple feedstocks, separate batch operations through 3 major operating units and a large number of finished products. 

Job Duties

  • Incorporate monthly LP plans, product demands, inventories, unit rates/yields and feedstock delivery logistics into a comprehensive refinery production schedule that is used to prepare daily operating instructions
  • Issue daily operating instructions to the plant defining unit operating targets and directing rundown streams to meet production requirements
  • Adjust feedstock ratios, rundown streams and stock transitions to ensure all products meet specifications and adjust quality targets if required for tank correction
  • Collaborate with Tech Services to ensure that unit operating conditions are suitable for meeting production requirements
  • Manage inventory and quality assurance of finished products to align with product demands including the timing of marine cargo loading
  • Manage the inventory, quality and logistics related to diesel blending and export
  • Manage inventories of finished basestock and intermediates in preparation for planned unit outages
  • Advise Supply & Distribution of forecasted production including quality and quantity concerns that may deviate from the monthly plan
  • Coordinate processing of 3rd party base oils to increase production and profits
  • Work with the Basestock Quality Team to evaluate new product opportunities and troubleshoot production quality issues
  • Identify ways to remove or overcome production constraints
  • Identify plant modifications needed to optimize the plant operation and profitability
  • Support the review, development and implementation of strategic initiatives including new feedstock evaluations and production trials
  • Respond to emergency situations and ensure safe management of all inventoriesSpecial assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

Experience

  • 10 years of related experience

Education Level

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Preference will be given to those with a Chemical/Process engineering degree

  • Refinery Production Knowledge – Familiar with lubricant plant operations and processes
  • Optimization – ability to generate and implement alternatives which save costs, increase production, increase yields or add value
  • Business Knowledge – ability to assess the economic cost and benefits of various alternatives
  • Oil Flow Planning - background in planning, quality assurance and process operations
  • Leadership skills with the demonstrated ability to manage, motivate and mentor in a non-authoritative capacity

Work Conditions

  • This is an office based role in a manufacturing environment
  • This job may require working extended hours to meet organization requirements and deadlines.
  • Shift work not required, but must be on-call 24/7 to answer queries regarding Plan of Operations
