Basic Function
Petro-Canada Lubricants Inc. (PCLI), an HF Sinclair business, located in Mississauga, Ontario is seeking a Production Supervisor. Reporting to the Team Leader Bulk and Blending, this position plays a key role in directing the overall bulk and blending operations in a safe, reliable, efficient and environmentally responsible manner. This role is responsible for leading an automated and efficient high-speed blender, batch blending, bulk loading racks and grease manufacturing facility.
Job Duties
- Ensure a safe working environment
- Achieve production targets, control expenses and reduce waste
- Supervise one of the area teams in either the Batch Blending, In-line Blending or Grease Manufacturing areas. It’s expected this role be able to cover off other areas for periods of absence or development
- Performance management and capability development of direct reports, scheduling and effective administration of the unionized workforce via the collective bargaining agreement
- Monitor and manage key business and performance measures for their Area Team
- Responsible for TLM (Total Loss Management) leadership within the Area Team
- Safety and environmental performance of all Lubeplex activities
- Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their manager, as determined from time to time at the manager's sole and complete discretion
Experience
- Minimum of three years of experience in a production environment (operations, maintenance, and/or technical)
- Supervisory experience is as asset
- Prior work experience in a unionized environment is preferred
Education Level
- Post-secondary education however, a combination of education and experience may be considered
- Post-secondary degree is an asset
Required Skills
- Demonstrated ability to direct, motivate and lead team members in a dynamic environment

- Solid computer skills, particularly in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite (both Word and Excel)

- Ability to problem solve processes and equipment issues and malfunctions
- Experience in a blending and bulk loading type facility is preferred
- Knowledge of Process Equipment (pumps, tanks, valves, mixers and piping) is preferred
- Knowledge of Chemical/Industrial Engineering Principles (process improvements, continuous improvement and lean manufacturing) is an asset
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility
- Responsible for supervising up to 20 unionized employees (a combination of permanent and temporary employees)
- Actively manage the formulations, manpower allocations, priorities and loading logistics of the area
- Actively work with other operational leaders and stakeholders to effectively service the grease and lubricants business
- Learn and understand the technical details of lubricants batch blending. Understand piping networks, contamination, blending logistics and tank storage. Lead the area team in troubleshooting, prioritizing and continues improvement
- Learn and understand continuous inline blending for lubricants. Understand a Distributed Control System, the associated distribution network, storage tanks and bulk loading racks. Lead the area team in trouble shooting, optimizing and continuously improve
- Learn and understand the physical and chemical details of a grease making and finishing process. (The grease process involves a high temperature and pressure reaction). Understand the support infrastructure, heating system, the associated distribution system and packaging. Be able to trouble shoot and continuously improve the process
- Shift work may be required
Work Conditions
- Office in the working area of the manufacturing facility.
- Personal protective equipment while on the manufacturing floor is required
- This position is safety sensitive
- Hours of work is 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. and overtime is as required
