Title:  Quality Control Technologist

Basic Function

Petro-Canada Lubricants Inc. (PCLI), an HF Sinclair business is seeking a Quality Control Technologist. Reporting to the Quality Control Team Leader, the Quality Control Technologist will be responsible for the execution of the Quality Control (QC) Operating Procedures.  The QC Technologist will also work closely with various internal teams to manage day-to-day operating and quality issues.

Job Duties

  • Accurately enter data into SAP system
  • Generate and issue certificates of analysis
  • Maintain blended materials in SAP
  • Investigate customer complaints / concerns, as required
  • Maintain retain sample program
  • Work collaboratively with the Quality Control Team members
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and environmental procedures
  • Other special assignments or tasks as assigned by leader, as determined from time-to-time in their sole and complete discretion


  • The preferred candidate would be a recent University graduate in the area of Chemistry, Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Previous laboratory or manufacturing experience in a chemical or related industry is an asset

Education Level

  • University degree in Chemistry, Engineering or Computer Science


Required Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (EXCEL & WORD), knowledge of SAP would be an asset
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure fast-paced environment
  • Ability to perform multi-tasking duties
  • Good communication skills
  • Good physical condition as the job requires lifting and some outdoor work.
  • Previous experience in quality assurance / quality control environment would be an asset
  • Willingness to accept new challenges
  • Valid Driver’s License

Work Conditions

  • Normal office working conditions on-site in a manufacturing environment
  • Flexible work schedule as the job requires the ability to work in a fast-paced and result oriented environment, covering multiple production shifts and geographic regions
  • Some off-hour coverage is required which can be done from home
  • Must be physically able to climb stairs and industrial accesses (e.g. ladders, trucks) and lift up to 23Kg/50lbs
  • Must don Personal Protective Equipment as required by work location
  • Work is challenging and can be high stress
  • Required to work in petroleum refinery environment, warehouse/plant environment and outdoor environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressures vessels, and tanks
  • Required to work in all temperatures indoors/outdoors and near moving mechanical parts and/or rotating equipment. Subject to varying road and weather conditions
