Title: Compounding Supervisor

BASIC FUNCTION:
Sonneborn, an HF Sinclair company, is seeking a Compounding Supervisor for their Petrolia, Pennsylvania facility. The Compounding Supervisor oversees daily operations in Compounding, Pet/Wax, White Oil and Sulfonate production areas. This role is accountable for ensuring safe, reliable and efficient processes while meeting production goals for both quality and quantity. The position operates with minimal direct supervision and is responsible for maintaining consistent workflow and operational performance.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: (functions considered essential as defined by ADA)
- Carry out daily operations and assignments under the direction of the Department Superintendent.
- Follow through on tasks and provide proactive updates regarding any issues that may impact production or safety.
- Ensure employees are properly trained in job duties, company work rules, operating procedures, and performance expectations.
- Lead, support, and sustain team processes focused on safety, health, environmental compliance, product quality, cost effectiveness, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Investigate, resolve, and/or coordinate resources to address issues related to safety, health and environmental performance, product quality, efficiency, and labor relations.
- Ensure production schedules are executed accurately and on time in alignment with the established manufacturing plan.
- Promote and maintain good housekeeping practices, proper equipment care, and secure, well-maintained facilities within all assigned areas.
- Complete and submit all required departmental reports and documentation accurately and on schedule.
- Communicate company updates, policies, and other relevant information to employees within the work group.
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
EXPERIENCE:
- 3+ years in a refinery/petrochemical or 5+ years in other industrial site
- Experience in a Union facility
- Demonstrated experience in management and knowledge of high performance work teams
EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:
A minimum of a Post Secondary Education, Associate's Degree or Technical Degree/Certification.
A Bachelor’s Degree in a related science or business discipline is preferred.
SKILLS:
- Prior supervisory or lead experience in manufacturing or chemical processing preferred.
- Strong understanding of safety practices, production processes, and quality standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and coordinate across departments.
- Problem‑solving skills with the ability to respond quickly to operational issues.
- Working knowledge of SAP preferred.
SUPERVISORY/MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct supervision of bargaining unit operations employees.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Petroleum refinery and driver based environment including but not limited to chemical, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, working in confined spaces, and exposure to risk of electrical shock. Subject to all weather and varying road conditions. Occasionally required to work long hours which may include nights, weekends, holidays for regularly scheduled maintenance and emergency work and support as well as on-call availability.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing up to 200 ft, perceive color differences, required to wear personal protective equipment as needed and a respirator in emergency situations (beards are not permitted). Depending on location must satisfactorily complete a comprehensive medical physical examination. Job conditions may require twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping, and working in confined spaces as permitted.
