BASIC FUNCTION:

HF Sinclair in Petrolia, PA is seeking a Process Engineer who will perform process engineering, process design, project management, and process safety engineering duties within a petrochemical facility.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze data to aid maintenance & operations departments with decisions.
  • Gather and maintain process data for proactive unit monitoring.
  • Drive Management of Change (MOC) and associated hazard reviews for the assigned process areas.
  • Participate in process hazard analysis (PHA) for proposed projects or existing process units.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for process related incidents.
  • Perform pressure relief device design calculations.
  • Perform pump & piping system hydraulic analyses for troubleshooting & process improvements.
  • Perform heat transfer calculations for sizing or troubleshooting.
  • Develop or modify piping & instrumentation diagrams.
  • Complete spec sheets for instrumentation & process equipment.
  • Work with vendors or contractors to obtain pricing estimates.
  • Develop process design packages to assist the project engineering department.
  • Develop small capital project (<$100k) scopes, budgets, and timelines for approval and manage projects to completion.
  • Participate in maintenance shutdowns every 2-4 years.
  • Improve safety and sustainability of the facility.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

0-10 years of work experience in process engineering or related field.

REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:

A Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related discipline is required.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Microsoft Office
  • Project management.
  • Working knowledge of engineering concepts with a desire to apply those concepts in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple groups throughout the facility.
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

Some experience with Aspen or other process simulation software.

SUPERVISORY/MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITY:

May be responsible for the supervision of contractors.

WORK CONDITIONS:

Manufacturing facility and office based with up to 10% travel required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, lifting and/or carrying up to 50lbs, climbing up to 200ft, perceiving color differences, required to wear personal protective equipment as needed and a respirator in emergency situations (beards are not permitted), ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates is essential, valid State driver’s license and proof of insurance required. Job conditions may require making precise hand and finger movements, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping, and working in confined spaces as permitted.
