Title: Superintendent Compounding

Basic Function
HF Sinclair is seeking a Compounding Superintendent at our Sonneborn facility in Petrolia, Pennsylvania. The Compounding Superintendent is responsible for the immediate supervision of the Compounding department to include White Oil, SonneNatural, Cable, Sulfonate, Inspection/Loading, and Pet Wax. This position maintains safety, quality and delivery standards while optimizing production efficiency and facilitating work teams to maintain continuous operations.
Job Duties
- Maintain an uncompromising commitment to safety for employees, visitors, and the organization.
- Provide direct supervision to all Supervisors, support personnel, and bargaining unit employees within assigned departments.
- Oversee daily operations, including maintenance scheduling and resolution of operational issues.
- Maximize equipment uptime and manufacturing efficiency.
- Investigate and implement corrective actions for equipment and operational problems.
- Ensure compliance with housekeeping standards and safety practices.
- Assist with the handling of grievances and maintaining positive labor relations.
- Ensure salaried direct reports understand the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
- Lead training and facilitate team processes related to safety, health, environment, quality, cost competitiveness, policies, and customer satisfaction.
- Resolve conflicts promptly and effectively.
- Recommend, develop, and implement improvements in organization, procedures, policies, standards, methods, processes, and equipment to promote safety, environmental responsibility, and operational efficiency.
- Foster communication and collaboration to enhance employee relations and morale.
- Ensure manufacturing and compounding operations are executed according to schedule.
- Provide timely follow-through and closure on assignments.
- Maintain ongoing communication and feedback with all levels of leadership.
- Conduct and participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations to drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with Supply, Planning, and Transportation teams to ensure adherence to production schedules.
- Perform special assignments as directed by the supervisor.
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years in refinery, petrochemical, or industrial production management.
- Proven leadership experience with high-performance work teams.
Education Level
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work experience required.
Required Skills
- Strong leadership skills with a visible presence on the production floor.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; effective team player.
- Ability to make sound decisions, manage time effectively, and handle multiple priorities in a complex environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong computer skills.
- Ability to delegate tasks and projects effectively.
- Solid understanding of production management principles.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility
Supervises operations bargaining unit employees as well as salaried administrative employees and Unit Supervisors to perform work safely, efficiently and to a quality standard during a 24/7 workweek.
Work Conditions
Office and plant based with up to 10% travel required. Subject to varying weather conditions and required to work in all temperatures, including outdoors.

Physical Requirements
Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing up to 200 ft, perceive color differences, required to wear personal protective equipment as needed and a respirator in emergency situations. Depending on location must satisfactorily complete a comprehensive medical physical examination. Job conditions may require twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping, and working in confined spaces as permitted.
