BASIC FUNCTION:

Sonneborn LLC, an HF Sinclair business, located in Petrolia, PA, is seeking a Wax Packaging Supervisor. This position is responsible for leading, planning, organizing, and monitoring the Wax Packaging Department, as well as backing up the Shipping Department Supervisor. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of success effectively leading a team through change initiatives, driving significant improvements in culture, and improving morale; as well as experience streamlining processes with a focus on optimization and documenting and developing procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: (functions considered essential as defined by ADA)

  • Oversee the daily operations of the wax packaging department and provides work direction to the operators
  • Ensures department operates within safety, health and environmental compliance; identifies potential issues and takes action to prevent incidents and accidents, reports any environmental incidents as appropriate and participates in timely incident and accident investigations and follows up on assigned actions
  • Coordinate shipping and production activities with transportation, logistics, scheduling and production departments to ensure safe on-time delivery of company products
  • Develop and maintain work procedures, prepare work schedules and expedite workflow
  • Review records for accuracy and compliance with established procedures
  • Maintain inventory levels
  • Maintain equipment to accomplish production goals in a safe, efficient manner
  • Study, evaluate and standardize procedures to improve efficiency with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Review and approve employee time cards
  • Communicate with internal customers to resolve issues as needed
  • Work on tight, and often changing, deadlines with multiple priority shifts throughout the day
  • Interact closely with vendors and contractors

 

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working in a chemical, refining, manufacturing, blending, packaging environment with a strong technical and business knowledge of lubricants including development, testing, manufacturing, and distribution processes.
  • Automated warehouse management systems experience
  • Shipping experience
  • Supervisory experience in a union environment
  • SAP experience

REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge and experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Strong safety mindset
  • Supervisory experience
  • Willingness to be a hands-on leader with strong activity and visibility on the floor
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office

SUPERVISORY/MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for managing unionized and/or non-unionized direct and indirect reports with the assigned departments.

WORK CONDITIONS:

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Requires lifting up to 50 pounds. Requires walking, standing and climbing ladders and stairs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping. Job conditions may require making visual inspections, lifting and/or carrying up to 25lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 25lbs, climbing up to 3ft, ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates, with valid state driver’s license and proof of insurance, working in confined spaces, and perceiving color differences.
