Basic Function

HF SInclair is seeking a Yield Accountant to conduct complex yields accounting assignments with general supervision and act as resource and lead position for less experienced personnel. Based in Sinclair, WY at the Parco Refinery.

Job Duties

(functions considered essential as defined by ADA)

  • Analyzes and maintains accurate daily refinery yields, determining profit and loss for the refinery to assist in making decisions regarding optimization of the refinery configuration and operation
  • Performs inventory reconciliations and account reconciliations
  • Performs crude oil and natural gas reconciliations
  • Approves and calculates 3rd party terminating fees
  • Prepares and ensures accurate completion of EIA reporting
  • Manages and analyzes complex financial reports, calculations, and records
  • Monitors timely completion of complex yields accounting duties
  • Reviews and interprets financial reporting requirements, rules and regulations
  • Leads and completes special projects as required and acts as resource for less experienced personnel.

Other duties may include some or all of the following:

  • May review invoices to marketers
  • May track and analyze all branding master file additions, changes, and de-branding
  • May perform lease crude duties consisting of severance tax reporting, royalty payments and reporting, net out payments, and reconciliation of vendor accounts
  • May assist lower level associates in processing diesel and jet fuel entries and other reports as necessary

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

Experience

A minimum of seven years of related job experience is required. 

Plant knowledge is a plus; current and former operators are encouraged to apply.

Education Level

A minimum of a High School Diploma is required.

 

PREFERRED EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:

Bachelor's Degree in business, accounting, finance or related field is preferred. Masters or CPA is preferred.

Required Skills

Have a working knowledge of fundamental concepts and practices in field of specialization.  Ability to perform complex accounting analysis. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft products, experience with accounting and maintenance software. A broad understanding of accounting practices and procedures is required. Ability to manage projects and assignments with extreme accuracy and efficiency. May require ability to manage and analyze detailed inventory movements for multiple locations, depending on location. Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication, ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations, intermediate reading and writing skills.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

Work Conditions

Office based with occasional refinery visits from time to time. Sometime will be required to work in petroleum refinery environment. Subject to all weather, including out-of-doors and varying road conditions. May be required to work flexible hours.

Physical Requirements

Job conditions require sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, perceiving color differences. Job conditions may require standing, walking, lifting and/or carrying up to 25lbs, and wearing personal protective equipment (beards not permitted).
